If you want to tease the internet often, Netgear has a very interesting new product – if you can afford it. The Nighthawk M5 5G WiFi 6 Mobile Router (Unlock) takes a 5G SIM card that is compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Once installed, it will deliver data via WiFi over to up to 2 devices with more range and speed than your smartphone.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 mobile platform, it delivers maximum theoretical speeds of up to 1.2Gbps over WiFi 11ax. Although some devices can handle these speeds, it will be effective if additional devices are connected to more than one device. The router also has a dedicated Ethernet port that can supply up to 1 Gbps and connect to a device or WiFi network. Above 5GNR Sub 6 GHz, it supports LTE CAT 20, LTE Advanced, 4×4 MIMO and 256QAM.
Much like the original AT&T and Netgear Nighthawk LTE router, The 5G model can display relevant information such as WiFi password and how much mobile data you have used. Other features include VPN pass-through support and password protection, 13 hours of battery charge (or remove the battery and stick to the wall for all-day use), and the ability to plug in wired Internet to store data.
There is a pain point: price. The Nighthawk M5 5G WiFi 6 mobile router costs 700 700, much more than that Other 5G MiFi router on the market. The main advantages are fast speed, it is unlocked for any carrier (although Netgear recommends AT&T and T-Mobile) and Ethernet port. If these features are important to you, it is available for purchase now Netgear’s website.
