Amazon isn’t quite counting IMDB TV No charge video offer. TechCrunch Report That Amazon has launched another free video service in India, MinTV. It includes a lot of old content, including a mix of elements designed for other platforms like YouTube, but you can expect “new and exclusive” videos in the future.
MiniTV is currently available through Amazon’s Android app, but should reach iOS and the web “in the coming months”. The company did not say whether the service would reach other countries in the future.
The service is seen as a response to Walmart-owned Flipkart, which tapped a streaming service in its application in 2012. Disney + Hotstar.
If there is an international expansion, it could also help Amazon emerge with free, ad-supported video services in some countries. IMDB TV responds to that competition to one degree, but Amazon clearly doesn’t think it’s enough – at least not in some parts of the world.
