When I hit the throttle by holding both motors together, my whole body comes back to achieve that speed that feels the stimulus fast, but it’s terrifying. It doesn’t take long to get a rocket at 30 miles per hour. If you are accustomed to going this fast in a car, it does not sound very loud, but when you are balancing straight on a scooter and all you get for safety is a helmet on your head – just say my heart racing
I’m also in New York City. I usually had to hit the disc brakes every few minutes (effectively!) Due to traffic lights, cars or pedestrians if I did not walk over the Williamsburg Bridge. The chances of a faster ride of more than 25 miles per hour are slim. Still, it seemed good to avoid so much energy.
One thing to keep in mind is to never switch from a dual to a single motor while moving. The company said, “It’s like downshuffing from first gear to first gear of a car and can cause a fall or injury due to heavy frustration.”
The orange button next to the red single / dual button switches the Ghost between Echo and Turbo mode. The turbo button simply allows the scooter to hit the top speed on demand. Echo certainly increases the efficiency of motors. This significantly slows down your travel rate, but only if the ghost is cropping up on a dead battery and you have a longer journey ahead of you.
Most importantly, whatever the speed, the ride itself is very comfortable. The 10-inch pneumatic tires attached to the dual-spring suspension system make it look like you’re moving most of the way, even pot-holed roads don’t feel too rough. (I do not recommend it for off-road use)) It Is IP54 is water resistant, and that level of protection worked with light rain as well as slash after the snowfall in January, although the sellers did little to protect my shoes from getting wet and dirty.
The brakes are supposed to have regenerative braking feature which means they will recharge the battery as soon as they stop. Although I did not notice any significant battery gain.
The Ghost is easy to fold at the end of the ride, but not as fast as I like. To reduce these you will need to spend a few seconds twisting a rod between the handlebars, and some force is needed to undo the clamp at the bottom of the main stem that enables the folding process. You can secure it to bring the stem down and place it near a hook on the back of the deck. It packs in a fun shape but it’s still too long to fit under the couch.
Worst of all, it’s a 64 pound machine! It’s heavier than that Folding fat tire electronic bike. Don’t expect this e-scooter to tumble around easily.
