MacOS Monterey Wasn’t the most interesting launch for some users. According to Per 9 to 5 MacApple has told YouTuber Renee Ritchie Fixed A firmware issue prevents some Macs from getting started, including the T2 protection chip. Newer upgrades installed by Monterey will now get updated firmware as well as OS. The T2 chip exists on most Macs released between 2018 and 2020.

Apple did not say which systems could be most affected. However, it said only “very few” users had problems.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to recover if your Mac breaks as a result of the update. If you run into problems, you need to contact Apple Technical Support. It’s not clear if you need to send your Mac for service, but it’s safe to assume that it could worsen your Monterey experience.
