Apple’s smallest tablet Finally got the biggest refresh in almost a decade. The new iPad mini, unveiled at the company’s virtual hardware event on Tuesday, looks almost unfamiliar. 2019 predecessor. We’re talking thin bezels, Touch ID, 5G connectivity and even a USB-C port.

Model Starting at $ 499 for the 6th generation base model IPad mini Purple, pink, and apple are called “starlights”, which are the colors of buffalo champagne. If you are into a more nuanced sound tune, you can also choose the traditional themed space gray. It is currently available for pre-order with full availability from 24 September.

But the most interesting change is that it looks a lot like an extra large iPhone. The home button is gone, the TouchID is moving to the power button at the top, and the screen has lifted almost the entire face of the device.

If you line up every previous iPad mini, you’ll notice that, with the exception of a few camera changes, the hardware has remained untouched for most of the year.

Enter the 2021 iPad mini, which has been completely redesigned. On the front, the liquid retina display (with 500 nit brightness) has been increased from 7.9 inches (seen in the 2019 version) to 8.3 inches. Instead of a thick bezel around, there is now a screen that almost reaches from edge to edge – even at the bottom, since the home button is gone.

Apple has updated the cameras with a 12-megapixel sensor on the back, complete with a larger aperture (for sharper photos) and an improved flash for better photos in low light. The front has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and Apple has added the Center Stage feature that was exclusive to the iPad Pro. The feature automatically puts you in a frame when you turn around when making a video call.

And yes, that lightning connector went in favor of the USB-C port. The new Mini comes with support for the second generation Apple Pencil. Instead of plugging it into the Lightning port (like previous Mini and first generation Apple pencils) it automatically connects to the Mini and is magnetically attached to the side, where it charges wirelessly.

Speaking of accessories, Apple has also released a smart folio case for the Mini. Sold separately, you’ll choose between white, black, English lavender, electric orange and dark cherry.
