Virtual reality can be a powerful teaching tool, but it is only as good as the content available for the medium. Facebook seeks to increase content availability for VR learning as part of its focus shift Metaverse, And it has created a US $ 150 million fund to achieve that goal. The social network has announced that it is spending so much to reach its VR learning goal in the next three years at its Friend Connect 2021 event.

Since Facebook hopes to create a powerful ecosystem for learning in Metaverse, it plans to do more than just create an immersive learning experience. A portion of the money will go towards training augmented reality and virtual reality creators so that they can create their own experiences. Facebook is working with Unity to teach the skills needed to create educational VR content – primarily, using Unity’s “Create VR for Teachers” tool Quest 2 Non-profit and educational institution teaching device. Also, it has historically worked with a number of educational institutions, including Black Colleges and Universities, as well as with nonprofits to create immersive experiences for them.

Finally, Facebook says it is taking steps to increase people’s access to educational VR tools. After all, those jobs would be ruined if no one used them to learn new things.

Oculus VP Mark Rabkin said in a statement:

“VR is not all fun and games. If you’ve ever traveled the world with Wander, toured Japan with Tokyo origami, or admired heaven at the Titans of Space PLUS, you know that VR can be a powerful tool for learning. … There’s a lot of work to be done between where we are now and where we’re going to see Metavers in the future. We’re excited, and we hope you’ll come ride with us. “
