Beyond the general idea that humanity should applaud the courage of these women – and those they have and support in their journey – there is an economic message.
Britain has an aging population and we need young people like this to choose to make their lives here if we want to maintain our standard of living.
Perhaps Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Home Secretary, Priti Patel, will digest this story inwardly and move forward to a more meaningful and less “Brexity” position in 2022 than they showed in 2021.
This should include giving those of Afghanistan and other war-torn regions the right to apply for British visas from within their countries’ borders.
