I really enjoyed Gillian Tett’s column about writing her articles in bed (FT weekend, July 24). I am sluggish by nature.
However, I managed to write an 800-page book about the Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke by getting up at 10am every day at 6am every day. I was surrounded by tranquility during the early morning hours, which was a motivation.
Now, after my decade of zeal, I have returned to my inertia.
