NVIDIA’s RTX 3050 and 3050 bring ray tracing to affordable laptops

Today, the company is officially releasing the RTX 3050 and 3050T. They offer ray tracing and AI features from the rest of its RTX line but at a lower price of around 7 799. While they’re not nearly as powerful as NVIDIA’s Beefer GPUs, the RTX 3050 and 3050 will offer some serious upgrades for gamers on a budget. And for once, that means they won’t last for NVIDIA’s aging touring laptop GPUs like the GTX 1650T.

Inside Call of Duty: Warzone z, NVIDA claims that the RTX 3050 can reach 80 fps through medium graphics settings and can go above 95 fps when you flop in DLSS. That technology renders a game at a lower resolution and then uses AI to provide a higher framerate in the process to improve what you see. In comparison, the GTX 1650 has reached around 55FPS Warzone. The new GPU can also reach above 70FPS Outdrawer, Where 1650 could not even crack 40FPS at 1080p.


Of course, raw energy upgrades can be expected. What makes the RTX 3050 and 3050 attractive is their support for RTX ray tracing, which can provide real illumination effects in modern games. NVIDA claims that you can play Control 1080p with medium graphics and ray tracing settings with DLSS above p0 fps. That game has been my Ray Tracing Stress Test for the last few years and I would be really impressed if NVIDA could enable it to be played by Ray Tracing on systems below $ 1000.

Under the hood, the RTX 3050 and 3050 feature 2,048 and 2,560 CDA cores, respectively. It’s below 3,840 CUDA cores on the RTX 3060 but for gamers focused on 1080p performance they should still be strong enough. It is also noteworthy that NVIDIA is currently only sharing RTX 3050 TI Benmark. I’m interested to see if the 3050, which has a low-tension AI and RT core, will actually perform with re-traced games. Both GPU4 GDDR6 RAM and comes with a 128-bit memory interface, spaces that will limit their performance to basically 1080p gaming. These are the Max-Q GPUs, which means their performance can be optimized to fit on thinner laptops. (RTX 3050 desktop GPU has no sound))

Like the GTX 1 1650 and 1 Ti6060, I could see new RTX GPUs on mainstream laptops that go beyond the world of gaming. These feature NVIDIA hardware encoders and decoders, which can assist beef in video rendering. And since they are still RTX video cards, you can also use the NVIDIA Broadcast app to stream your audio or video in streams and video calls. Personally, I found the vague application of NVIDIA video backgrounds to be particularly smooth on my desktop and I bet it would be a huge upgrade for laptop webcams.
