Somali-born US congresswoman says she is ‘very confident’ The House speaker will take action against congresswoman Lauren Boebert.

U.S. Representative Ilhan omar said she was confident House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would take “decisive action” against Republican congresswoman Lauren Boebert in the coming days. comments about Omar being dismissed as Islamophobic.

Omar’s remarks on Sunday were the latest in a chain of events set in motion more than a week ago when a video posted on Facebook showed Boebert speaking at an event and describing an interaction with Omar – an interaction Omar, a Somali-born American Muslim, insists never happened.

In the video, Boebert alleged that a Capitol police officer approached her with “ferret on his face” shortly before she boarded a House Lift and locked the doors.

“I look to my left and there she is – Ilhan Omar. And I said, ‘Well, she does not have a backpack. We should be ready, ‘”says Boebert laughing.

Boebert’s remark about Omar not wearing a backpack was an apparent reference to her not wearing a bomb.

Quick response

Response to the video was quick.

Boebert, a first-term lawmaker who vowed to oppose Washington’s gun laws, apologized for the remarks. But a phone call between the two women ended in disgust after Boebert showed no sign of remorse.

Democrats later demanded that House House deprive Boebert of her committee orders for what they called anti-Muslim generosity.

“I had a conversation with the speaker, and I’m very confident she’s going to take decisive action next week,” Omar told CNN’s State of the Union program.

“When I first came to the congress, I was worried that I would not be allowed to be sworn in because there was a ban on the hijab. She promised me that she would take care of it. She kept that promise. She made another promise to me that she would take care of this. And I believe her. ”

There were no immediate comments from Pelosi or Boebert.

House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy defended Boebert last week, saying she had publicly and personally apologized to Omar.

Omar did not say what steps Pelosi could take.

The Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives last month voted to formally reprimand Republican Congressman Paul Gosar for tweeting an animated video depicting him killing progressive Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez.

It also stripped Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments earlier this year because of previous comments supporting violence against Democrats.

Boebert, Gosar and Greene are all hardline conservatives and outspoken allies of former President Donald Trump.
