Porsche has developed a prototype system that plays custom, original music to your driving, whether you’re on the open road or stuck in traffic, Autblog Reported. The Soundtrack My Life The project works on something like game music, increasing the intensity depending on the “acceleration, speed and centrifugal force in the car”.
Porsche’s system is not just a playlist of songs from streaming services, but original samples and snippets mixed by an algorithm to match your driving. You can choose the music you want, then the system starts playing music. “The complexity of what comes to the ears depends on how they drive,” said Norman Friedenberger of Porch Digital. “How fast they drive and how fast they accelerate and brake” “Once you slow down or stop, go to downtempo to match the music.
The idea is not to replace regular streaming but to give drivers another option. One advantage is that the system plays something original every time and can theoretically create “new” music forever. “It’s so exciting for the driver. They experience a new soundtrack every time,” said Friedenberger.
So far, Soundtrack My Life is in an experimental phase and Porsche has decided whether to keep it still in production. However, the automaker is currently in the process of testing the system on vehicles and creating an “overall experience”.
