If you spend More than a thousand dollars on a TV, there are very few reasons not to Buy an organic light-emitting diode model. Each pixel of an OLED screen acts as its own backlight and provides a fantastic viewing experience in the built-in contrast.
Over the years, Samsung যা which doesn’t make an LED TV-says its high-end backlit LED screens are brighter than LG, Sony, and VGO LEDs (and thus work better in bright rooms). Once you get the two technologies side by side this claim becomes much less. Cursed brightness, without the near-perfect contrast of the OLED, Samsung’s didn’t actually look good. My views didn’t start to change until I got my eyes on the new QN90A.
Depending on what and where you watch, the QN90A can actually be a good looking TV. Samsung’s Mini LED backlighting is very close to the perfect contrast of inch LEDs, and the fast processing makes it a perfect companion for high-end gaming PCs and consoles. If you watch in bright rooms or in large groups from different angles, this is probably the most beautiful TV for you.
Mini LEDs use thousands of tiny LEDs for display backlights, and OLED’s Achilles heel: without the limitations imposed by brightness, technology is now moving very close to OLED-level performance when it comes to blacks.
LED TVs can be brighter than LEDs, which makes them better for eye-catching color and bright rooms. Imagine moving your cell phone screen from a bright room to a dark one; It needs a lot more backlight to feel good in sunlight. This is important because not everyone has the luxury of purpose-built home theater. Brightness has a noticeable effect, especially when the underlying contrast advantage of OLED is reduced.
The QN90A lights also look amazing when lit. When I was watching Formula 1 races and football matches, the color of the car and the green of the field were fantastic. Likes even dark shows Mandolorian Looked great. Turn off the lights and this is one of the most lively viewing experiences you will ever see.
But only when viewed in a super-dark room will you really notice that the TV is not turning black like an LED can. Turn off the lights and put a film set in space; You will notice there is a touch of “light blooming” around the bright object, which bleeds around the subject when the light from the backlight illuminates.
The QN90A is well designed. I prefer the inch-thick, almost bezel-less panel of Samsung’s Mini LED model Paper-thin LG C1 OLED I reviewed earlier. Honestly, having a TV that just seems thin unless you try to manipulate it out of the box, on a wall or on the included stand. With Samsung, I was not afraid to break the display with my finger.
