NASA now expects to begin testing its unmanned Artemis I flight in February 2022, with a lift off window early February 12. The space agency initially planned a test flight in November 2021, but, well, it was one such year.

The Orion capsule has been stacked on top of the space launch system rocket and Blastoff now relies on test results. The most important test is apparently the wet dress rehearsal, when Artemis I Crew will try to load and unload the propellants a few weeks before launch. NASA will not set a firm launch date until the successful exercise – so yes, that date could slip.

The ultimate goal is to land the first crude in 2024.
