We regularly write about our favorite games on Engadget and even “The best game“Listing for each console. But buying a game for someone else is a completely different matter to choose for yourself. Unless you know exactly what they want, where do you even start?”
Okay, we’ll start by thinking about what your loved one is doing outside of gaming. Can they do anything to help calm them down every night? Do they like a good story that moves them? Are they crazy about a board game? Maybe they are interested in romance with Greek gods? Okay, the latter is rare, but we hope there’s something for everyone here.
Why am I recommending a game that won a bunch of prizes in 2020? Because you can in the end Play it in everything. Over the summer, the game has been introduced across both the Xbox and PlayStation console generations, joining the PC and Switch versions.
Bought Hades On the PS5 or Xbox Series X, and you’ll get a version that can reach 60 fps in 4K. No matter what platform you play on, expect a game full of varied enemies, a playthrough that isn’t twice as similar, and an intelligent weave system that enhances a powerful selection of weapons, including extra power, effects, and new moves.
You will soon decide your favorite religious ally (and the weapon of the underworld), but to make it to the end of Hades you will need to make some concessions for most of the skills and techniques, as the boons are randomly given each run. The game revolves around dying, learning and doing it again. And again. And again. – Matt Smith, UK Bureau Chief
If Silksong, Its sequel Holo NightReached so far, I would probably recommend it. As it turns out, this is still a great time for the original that was first published – on PC – in 2017. Thanks to its Metroidvania playstyle (explore, learn new skills, use the ability to explore more) and its beautiful bugs. As the cartoon shows, it remains a classic. You both need a semi-decent image to explore the world of Hollow Night, to explore dangerous environments and to encounter many large bugs. The story is lightly woven into your exploration, and while things may feel a bit dark – it’s a moody viewing game – there are lots of fun little moments and characters to see.
Depending on the console of your choice, this is often discounted. Now may be the time to discover your new (but old) favorite game and improve those skills over time Silksong. – Microsoft
No game in the last one year has made me so happy and calm Stardew Valley And, judging by the excess of flow in Twitch for the title, I don’t think I’m alone. Farming Sims was one of my favorite games to play as a kid (Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Holds a special place in my heart) and Stardew Valley Filled that void for me as an adult and gave me a nice, funny thing to do when I could focus on going out of control of the world. Planning ahead for the autumn days so I can get as many gold-star pumpkins as possible brings me much more joy than you might think, just as collecting ridiculous amounts of cheese and eggs produces my happy cows and chickens. And Sims The lover in me also actually finds a ton of joy in building my farm – sure, it’s not as extensive as the farms seen on Twitch or Reddit threads, but it’s a small piece of my own virtual paradise. – Valentina Palladino, Trade Secretary
Ratchet and Clank: Rift apart
If someone special to you is lucky enough to own a PlayStation 5, they’re probably aspiring for a game that makes the most use of their new console – and better than a few games. Ratchet and Clank: Rift apart. Insomniac’s action-adventure not only looks beautiful with exceptional detail and sharp 4K HDR visuals, but also uses the PS5’s ultra-fast storage to offer gameplay that was not possible with previous-gen consoles. As you can imagine in an instant world, loading times are almost a thing of the past.
And did I mention that this is a very enjoyable game even without that instant-travel party strategy? You’ll enjoy the extended mechanics that include a lot of blast-m-up action, a variety of environment sets and movement systems like wall-running. The story is also interesting. The PS5 has a few classics at this stage, however The cracks are different Definitely one of them. John Fingas, Weekend Editor
