The photographer further suggests that the jet derives its power from the rotating power of the black hole, according to Michael Johnson, the Horizon contributor to the event.
The data also allows scientists to speculate that the black hole is a relatively moderate eater – it ‘simply’ receives one-thousandth of the Sun’s mass each year.
You will see more insights in the future. Although the combination of EHT’s global telescopes is limited, future versions should be able to produce a full video of the magnetic activity. It should show how magnetic fields extract energy from black holes and further eliminate unfamiliar objects in the universe.
