It does this through three bands. One 5-GHz band is offering up to 4,804 Mbps, the second 5-GHz band is offering up to 1,201 Mbps and a 2.4-GHz band that can hit 574 Mbps. In the real world, you may not get close to that speed, but since the average Internet speed in the United States is below 200 Mbps, very few people have a fast enough connection to push this router anywhere near its limit.

The TP-Link Archer GX90 is one of the fastest routers I’ve tested. It has consistently provided high download speeds across my home, which is about 1,600 square feet. Not only did it blow up my ISP’s router at significantly higher speeds over all distances except on the right side of the router, but it did more than most of my home recently tested Wi-Fi 6 mesh systems.

The GX90 can offer benefits even if your internet connection is limited. Transferring a 2.2-GB file from one Wi-Fi-connected desktop to another, for example, took only one minute (1:02, to be exact), which is half the time of the next fastest system I tested, Linksys Velop Wi-Fi 6 (MX4200) ($ 250). If you use Remote Play or Stream from a media server, this router will put a smile on your face.

Gaming performance is excellent. Priority prevents any dip, even when many other people jump to stream or browse online, although you will feel the difference here only if your bandwidth is limited. If you already have a quick connection, it becomes difficult to measure potential benefits. Your gaming connection preferences limit bandwidth for everyone else, so if your connection is limited, for example, their 4K stream may be limited to HD.

Game Accelerator detects and optimizes gaming streams Specific games, And you can dive into duration, asset allocation, and delay statistics. The latter is kept to a minimum for combinations of OFDMA, 4×4 MU-MIMO, and beamforming, not to mention dedicated gaming bands, ensuring that multiple devices can be connected simultaneously without performance hits.

Join a Minecraft The server was silky smooth with my kids on three separate computers dotted around the house. I had an explosion Counter strike And my aging reactions have been found to be the only obstacle. Throw Lots Roblocks And some Left 4 Dead 2, And what stood out is the complete absence of any problems.

I don’t want anything

Interestingly, the TP-Link Archer GX my0 has lagged behind similarly priced mesh systems in my home, except for the back bedroom and backyard speed (the farthest point from the main router). Your results will vary depending on the layout and building materials of your home. There are situations where a fake node would do a better job of spreading Wi-Fi in a dead place, but Archer GX90 also supports TP-Link OneMesh, so you can add a router and range extender to create a fake network.

The difficulty here is hard to find. Of course, the TP-Link Archer GX90 is expensive and possibly overpowering for most people, and the design is not only aesthetically pleasing, but impeccable in performance and ease of use. If you crave serious future-proofing, it’s best to go for a tri-band router with a 6-GHz band. But you pay a premium now, and Wi-Fi 6E devices that are able to use it are scarce and will remain so for some time.

For gamers of a busy family looking to upgrade to four bedrooms, this router might be ideal. The $ 250 price sounds steep, but see what you get. Consider antivirus, parental control, and QoS, then reliable and fast performance factor, and hard to find a better buy without more cost.
