After his first In e-commerce this past summer, Twitter began testing a new live shopping experience. The feature basically allows users to watch and purchase a broadcast at the same time. The first live shopping stream will debut on November 28 at 7pm ET when Walmart A cyber week-themed host Livestream with Jason Derulo. The lyricist will spend about 30 minutes talking about different products, including electronics and home decor.
“Twitter gives livestreaming businesses the ability to connect with their most influential fans, and adding the ability to shop to this experience is a natural addition to attracting an engaging audience and engaging with them,” Twitter said of the feature.
Twitter has also launched a “shopping manager” test that says merchants will help with the onboarding experience. In addition, the company is expanding the availability of “shop modules”. First announced in July, the tool allows brands and businesses to add a carousel to their profiles that can highlight a selection of products. Next week, The company said it would introduce the feature to more merchants in the United States.
Compared to other social media platforms, Twitter has been slow to embrace and add e-commerce features. The company is now adding a host of shopping features that see e-commerce as a big part of its future.
